Planning a kid’s party can be both daunting and fun! Should we host a craft party or a cooking class? Perhaps a party with games? What about something to do with playdoh?

But planning a kid’s party requires so much more than just “pick a date and book it.” There are so many things to consider: food, decorations, kids’ interests, and playtime. Not to mention, the host’s personality and preferences.

Don’t worry. Here are seven things to keep in mind for kid’s parties.

1. Food is a necessity for kids’ parties

It can be a little overwhelming when you’re planning for the first time. But this doesn’t have to be. Start with one or two simple, kid-friendly menu items and add to them as you go.

Be sure to include treats or activity stations, which will make the party a little more fun for kids. These activity stations can include arts and crafts, music, games, or other things they enjoy. If you’re having your party outside, a backyard make-and-take station can work wonders for your child’s happiness and as a kids party planner you must consider this.

2. Do we need to supply drinks and juices?

You don’t need to supply lots of beverages, but your party menu will certainly require a few options. Water and lemonade will do just fine for most parties.

But remember, kids, are young. If your child is 3 or 4, you’ll want to consider juice options. Juice can be a huge hit with a child. Juice mixes like apple and orange are a great way to boost a kid’s energy for a long party. Juice mixes that are sweetened are even better.

3. Consider your child’s personality

When planning a kid’s party, you can’t forget about your child’s personality. This is the most important factor for a successful party. There are so many things to think about when you’re planning a party, and your child’s personality is going to play a role in how you put the party together.

Before you start planning your kid’s party, figure out your child’s personality. What do they like to do? What things fascinate them? What is their favorite food? What’s their least favorite food?

4. Decorations for a kid’s party are great, but they must be kid-friendly

Decorations and party favors can turn a kid’s party into a fun party! But decorations and party favors are for kids. They can be a little crazy and loud.

There are many kids’ party decoration options, such as inflatable water balloons or paper plates. But if you want to be more creative, you can also use the color wheel as a kid’s party decoration.

5. Games are an important part of a kid’s party

Games are the absolute best part of a kid’s party! They keep the party going for hours. Games are typically a part of any kids’ birthday party.

But games are also a part of some kids’ birthday party agendas. If your child has a science birthday party, they’re probably going to have science-related games.

It’s okay to consider some kid-friendly games at your kid’s party. But if your child is not into games, do not make it a big focus of the party.

6. Kids should be able to enjoy their birthday

Some of the items you chose to supply for the party might make your child feel overwhelmed and stressed. They may end up not wanting to have the party. After all, a 3-year-old doesn’t want to celebrate their birthday when there’s so much to do.

They don’t realize how they feel until later, and then they are likely to blame you for their distress. It’s not fair for you to spend all that time planning for the party and then not be there to enjoy the party with your child.

7. Playtime for kids should be fun

When you’re planning your kid’s birthday party, you need to make sure that there’s plenty of fun for them. It’s a little like a wedding reception. You want the couple to be able to have a great time together. You want them to get engaged in each other.

You want them to have an amazing time at the reception and the party. So, you need to make sure that you’re planning a party that is going to be fun. It’s not about you or your expectations. It’s about your child.
